SYNOPSIS
Former book editor Susan Ryeland returns to London and gets pulled into a double mystery involving a real-life murder and a story-within-a-story featuring detective Atticus Pünd.
HOW WE ACHIEVED IT
Our VFX work on Marble Hall Murders included a mixture of stylised creative work, clever transitions and period clean-up.
Dream Sequence
We worked on a surreal dream sequence in which the main character finds herself confronting tiny figures climbing onto her bed. We developed the visual concept and brought the miniature characters to life by compositing bluescreen performances into the live-action plates, scaling and stylising them with a bespoke posterised black-and-white treatment. Our compositors worked on lighting, shadows and character interactions with the bed to help ground the effect within the live-action photography.
Clean-Up
We transformed modern locations into convincing period environments, removing unwanted contemporary elements and production artefacts. We also carried out extensive continuity work across locations, props and performances to ensure consistency from shot to shot.
Transitions
We created a series of transitions in which characters and environments seamlessly dissolved into white voids before gradually reappearing.
