SYNOPSIS

Based on the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars, the ensemble action film is a revisionist take on the classic myth set in a grounded world where the supernatural does not exist.

HOW WE ACHIEVED IT

Production had shot an entire scene within the interior of a Citadel that included Hercules and Amphiaraus in the foreground and various items -including fire baskets, weapons, tents, steps and moving elements – in the background. Using a tile set of images shot at Pinewood’s Black Park and with some assistance from the production team (headed up by Dominic Thomson), we stitched the new images together, Rotoscoped Hercules and Amphiaraus and using various techniques and many levels of compositing placed both characters into a woodland campsite environment (see above). Green screen was not used at any point. The shot included a number of different camera moves and one major camera pan within the sequence. The shots were delivered for the main DI.
