SYNOPSIS

Sky’s supernatural thriller The Rising explores one woman’s quest for justice – even if it means coming back from the dead to do so. Neve Kelly is dead. Understandably, she’s scared and confused by this new (non) existence, but moreover, when she realises she has been murdered, she’s furious. Believing that her killer was someone she knew, Neve sets out to get justice, taking advantage of her new supernatural abilities to “go where the police can’t and investigate her own death. In doing so, she uncovers deeply buried secrets and is forced to re-examine everything about her life and the people she cared about.

HOW WE ACHIEVED IT

Alongside VFX clean-up work, we manufactured Victoria’s wraith form by adding smoke and greyness to her skin tone, while aiding the actress’ movements and making her apparition appear to float. We also dissolved Neve’s hands and thus bridged the gap between human and wraith by lending a supernatural transitional effect. We also altered backgrounds and exterior to match the desired time of day, heightening the eerie atmosphere by implementing flocks of crows, enhancing corpses, cracking mirrors and adding smoke and various other elements across the series.
