SYNOPSIS
Written by Russell T Davies, Years and Years is an epic saga that takes an ordinary family and catapults them through the next 15 years. As society changes, faster than ever, the Lyons experience everything we hope for in the future, and everything we fear. They fall in and out of love and grow old, fall apart and come back together, while constantly looking forward.
HOW WE ACHIEVED IT
Working with production, TFCC was asked to come up with the futuristic filter worn by the character Bethany. This was designed through a mix of cartoon drawings with keyframe animations, graphic elements and real-time distortions. TFCC also created the floating screens as used by Bethany and her colleagues in block 2. This work included sophisticated comping techniques as well as animation and lighting.
Other key shots completed included creating Bethany’s finger implants and under skin caballing as well as animated fireworks, the nuclear explosion. TFCC also created the 3D CGI politicians using a sophisticated technique blending CGI wireframes with skin texture, lighting and animation. Other work included providing a large number of screen inserts, background replacements and clean up shots. Our total shot count exceeded 365 shots.
