Set in a gritty, contemporary world, Reunion builds intensity through grounded, realistic visual effects while still allowing the performances to shine. Our VFX work supported a range of moments, from subtle scene clean-up and screen replacements to enhancing the visceral impact of gunfire, all designed to keep the viewer immersed in the action.
HOW WE ACHIEVED IT
Shotgun Impact Enhancements:
Our team reworked gunfire shots, refining shotgun spark impacts to reduce overly theatrical lighting and create more believable, grounded visuals. Shotgun blasts were treated with added debris hits and impact effects to heighten their physicality, carefully balanced to stay within the show’s naturalistic tone.
Phone Screen Replacements:
We created clean and contextually accurate phone screen inserts that synced perfectly with on-screen finger movements and device angles. By tracking each device in 2D as needed, we integrated the UI elements with interactive lighting and subtle reflection passes to maintain realism.
Plate Clean-Up & Environmental Corrections:
Throughout the series, we handled a wide range of subtle clean-up work, removing crew, modern signage, and unwanted set elements — to preserve narrative continuity. Our clean-up efforts were tailored to be invisible, ensuring that attention stayed on character and story.
